Virginia woolf

Adeline Virginia Woolf (/wUlf/, born Leslie Stephen, 25 January 1882-28 March 1941) was an English writer from England. She was the seventh child of Julia Prinsep Jackson, and Leslie Stephen, and was part of a blended family which also included the modernist artist Vanessa Bell. She was home-schooled in English classics and Victorian literature from a young age. From 1897 until 1901, she attended the Ladies' Department of King's College London, where she took classes in classics and the history of the country and became acquainted with early reformers of women's high education as well as the women's right movement.Encouraged by her father, Woolf began writing professionally in 1900. Following the death of her father in 1904 The Stephen family relocated from Kensington to more bohemian Bloomsbury and, conjunction with the brothers' intellectual acquaintances, they established the artistic and literary Bloomsbury Group. In 1912, she got married to Leonard Woolf, and in 1917, the couple founded the Hogarth Press, which published many of her works.
