The small town of Boca Chica, Texas is home to just 26 people (as as of 2000 at the very least). It is located just a few miles from the Rio Grand River's mouth. It's just a few miles from the Gulf Coast and just 20 miles east of Brownsville, Texas. Founded in the 1960s, the quiet town is now facing loss at the hands of billionaire Elon Musk. In 2015 Elon Musk, the SpaceX founder started buying up property in Boca Chica. He started buying up empty houses. Why? He is planning to construct an exclusive resort for SpaceX there. While he has purchased the majority of the town's properties, 10 hardy residents have refused to let their homes go to Musk. His Starship-Super Heavy program is centered in the small town. The 394-foot tall reusable rocket can dramatically lower the cost of going into space, and making trips to the moon or Mars reasonably affordable and affordable. The plan is at risk if the 10 remaining people living in Boca Chica, who a majority are retired and/or elderly continue to resist selling their homes to Musk.SpaceX attempted to purchase the entire town in September 2019.
