Thomas Sowell, born June 30th 1930 Thomas Sowell, born June 30, 1930, is an American economist. He was an economics professor at Cornell University, the University of California, Los Angeles, and since 1980 at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where he is currently Senior Fellow. Sowell is a libertarian conservative who advocates supply-side economics. He has written over thirty books (a majority of which have been reprinted in revised editions). He was awarded the National Humanities Medal in 2002.
