Jeff Bezos is an American philanthropist, businessman and space explorer who is probably most well-known for the creation of Amazon.com. Jeff Bezos, the founder, chief executive officer and president of Amazon.com and the chairman of the company's board. In July 2017, he was the most successful person on earth surpassing Bill Gates for the first time. He was the wealthiest person in the world without interruption between October 2017 and January 2021.According to the company's most recent SEC report, Jeff owns 55 million shares of Amazon which is roughly 12 percent of the total shares outstanding. At the time of his peak, the company owned the equivalent of 80 million shares in Amazon. As part of his agreement to divorce in April with MacKenzie Bezos, Jeff transferred 19.7 million shares to his ex-wife. The value of shares as of the transfer was $36 billion. The settlement temporarily decreased Jeff's net worth from $150 billion to $114 billion. Jeff was also a investor prior to the IPO of Google.com and has around $1 billion shares of what is now referred to as Alphabet Inc.This was before the divorce, so he held the equivalent of 80 million shares. Jeff's net worth reached the record high of $170 billion in that time.
