 American businessman, philanthropist, and space explorationist Jeff Bezos is perhaps best recognized for the creation of Amazon.com. Jeff Bezos, the founder, chief executive officer and president of Amazon.com and the chairman of its board. In July 2017, he became the richest person on earth surpassing Bill Gates for the first time. He was the most wealthy person in the world in a continuous manner from October 2017 and January 2021.According to the company's latest SEC report, Jeff owns 55 million shares of Amazon, roughly 12 percent of the total shares that are outstanding. At the time of his peak, he owned the equivalent of 80 million shares in Amazon. In the agreement to divorce in April with MacKenzie Bezos, Jeff transferred 19.7 million shares to his ex-wife. At the time of the transfer, the shares were worth 36 billion dollars. Jeff's net worth sank from $150 billion down to $114 billion after the settlement. Jeff was also a investor before the initial public offering of Google.com and owns at least $1 billion worth of shares of what is now referred to as Alphabet Inc.For many of the years of the 2000s, Jeff was not even in the top 10 or 20 of the wealthiest people on earth. In late 2014, Amazon stock started to rocket.
