Bret Baier

William Bret Baier (/'bret 'beI@r/ BRET BAY-@r; born August 4, 1970) is the host of Special Report with Bret Baier on the Fox News Channel and is the chief political correspondent for Fox. Prior to being hired by Fox, he was the chief White House Correspondent of the network as well as a Pentagon correspondent. Growing up Catholic, he attended Marist School, a private Roman Catholic high school in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 1988. Baier was then a student at the methodist DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana where he graduated in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in political science as well as English. While at DePauw Baier was a member of the Xi Chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity.Baier began his TV career with a local station WJWJ TV16 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, prior to joining WRAL-TV, a CBS affiliate in Raleigh, North Carolina. He sent an audition tape to Fox News in 1998, and was hired to be the station's Atlanta bureau chief. On September 11th 2001, he drove from Georgia to Arlington, Virginia, to report on the terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Instead of being selected to be the Pentagon correspondent for the news network, he did not return to Atlanta.
