Benjamin

Imagine never being able touch your inheritance in the next. Well, in April of 1990, the 200th anniversary of the passing of Benjamin Franklin, the cities of Boston and Philadelphia received the benefit of his 18th-century wisdom.Franklin left the two cities a sum of $2000 sterling. The only drawback was that the remaining funds could not be used for a period of 100 years and could be borrowed for a period of 200 years. Franklin was just 17 years old of age when he moved to Philadelphia. He left $2000 in his will to split between Philadelphia and Boston. The money was to be used as loans for young apprentices. He believed that this would aid young workers get into their jobs. And the sum of $2,000 was significant: This was the amount Franklin earned while serving his term as Governor of Pennsylvania from 1785 until 1788. Whitfield Bell, who was a historian and curator of the American Philosophical Society, Philadelphia stated that Franklin liked the idea, which he fought to make part of the Constitution. "Public employees in a democracy shouldn't pay," he stated.
