Kendrick Lamar Duckworth (born on the 17th of June, 1987) is an American rapper and songwriter. The renowned for his unique styles of music and his socially conscious songwriting, he is often regarded as to be one of the most powerful hip hop artists in his generation.Born and raised in Compton, California, Lamar began his career as a teenager as a stage performer under the name K.Dot. He soon gained the attention of locals which led him to sign an agreement to record with Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) in 2005.After becoming an original member of the hip hop supergroup Black Hippy, Lamar dropped his stage name and started using his middle and first names as professional. In 2011, he released his first studio album Section.80, a conscious hip hop album. The album received favorable reviews and featured his debut single "HiiiiPower". Lamar was signed to a record deal under Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment in 2012 and released his second studio album, Good Kid, M.A.A.D City.
