Since the early 1990s the announcer has been working on telecasts for CBS Sports of the NFL, NCAA and men's basketball. Since 2004, Nantz is the NFL announcer for the most prestigious play-by-play on CBS. He was a student at the University of Houston in Texas, where he majored in broadcasting and was a part of the Houston Cougars men's golf team in which he shared a room with the future golfers who would become professional Fred Couples and Blaine McCallister. Nantz's first experience in broadcasting sports was with CBS Radio Network. He recorded interviews and passed them to Win Elliot, who produced the CBS Radio Network's Sports Central USA weekend report. Nantz was anchor and sportscaster at KSL TV Salt Lake City before becoming a CBS Sports permanent anchor. In 2008 and 2009 Nantz was honored with the Emmy Award as Outstanding Sports personality, play-by-play.
