Amanda

 Amanda Tapping (born 28 August 1965) is a Canadian-born British actress and director. Her most notable role is that of Samantha Carter on the Canadian-American military sci-fi television show Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. She also appeared as Helen Magnus in the science fictional-fantasy TV series Sanctuary.Born in Rochford, Essex, England, Tapping moved with her family to Ontario, Canada, when she was just three years old. She went to North Toronto Collegiate Institute, where she was a star in environmental science and drama. But, after she graduated in 1984, she decided to pursue dramaand attended the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts in Windsor, Ontario.After graduation, Tapping continued to pursue her studies in the theatre arts, while also performing in a variety of stage productions. She was a part of numerous commercials for television and had a variety of roles in films and television shows including The Outer Limits and The X-Files. In the early 1990s she also co-founded a comedy group called "Random Acts" along with Anne Marie Kerr and Katherine Jackson.
