 Taraji Penda Henson, /t@'ra/dZi/t@-RAH/jee was born September 11 the 11th of September, 1970. She is an American actor. She was a student at Howard University and began her Hollywood career with guest roles on several television shows before getting her first big break with the film Baby Boy (2001). She played a prostitute on Hustle & Flow (2005) and was awarded an award from the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. She was also the single mother of a disabled child in David Fincher's The Case of Benjamin Button (2008) in which she was awarded Academy Award, SAG Award and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In 2010, she appeared in the action comedy Date Night, and co-starred in the remake of The Karate Kid alongside Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan.Henson has also enjoyed an extensive and lucrative career in television, including shows like The Division, Boston Legal and Eli Stone. She starred in Taken from Me: A Tiffany Rubin Story, a Lifetime Television movie.
