Jayne Mansfield, born Vera Jayne Palmer on April 19, 1933 – June 29, 1967 was an American actress and singer. She also was Playboy's player. A sex-related icon from the 1950s and 1960s, while working for 20th Century Fox, Mansfield was famous for her well-publicized personal life as well as publicity stunts. The film career she had was brief however she enjoyed many box-office successes, and she won an Theatre World Award and a Golden Globe Award. Mansfield enjoyed success as the character actress Rita Marlowe in the Broadway production of Will Success be a stumbling block for Rock Hunter?
