Jayne Mansfield

Jayne Mansfield, born Vera Jayne Palmer on April 19, 1933 – June 29, 1967 was an American actress and singer. She also was Playboy's player. A sex-related icon from the 1950s and 1960s, while working for 20th Century Fox, Mansfield was famous for her well-publicized personal life as well as publicity stunts. The film career she had was brief however she enjoyed many box-office successes, and she won an Theatre World Award and a Golden Globe Award. Mansfield enjoyed success as the character actress Rita Marlowe in the Broadway production of Will Success be a stumbling block for Rock Hunter? (1955-1956) that she did a retelling in the film adaptation of the title (1957). Other roles in films she performed include The Girl Can't Help But Smile (1956), The Wayward Bus (1957), The Musical Comedy (1956) The Drama The Girl Can't Help it (1957) The Neo-Noir Too Hot to Handle (1960), The Wayward Bus (1957) and Promises! Promises! (1963) The film established Mansfield as the first major American actress to appear in a scene that was not asexual one in a post-silent period film
