George Strait

 George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on May 18 1952. He is an American musician, singer and actor. Strait is often referred to as the "King of Country" and is considered one of the most influential and well-known music artists ever recorded at the time.In the 1980s, he was a prominent and pioneering figure within the neotraditional style of country and was renowned for his straightforward western image and his roots-oriented style at a time when the Nashville music scene was dominated by crossover country acts.Strait's success started when his first hit single "Unwound" was a hit in 1981, signalling the rise of the neotraditional style. During the 1980s, seven of his albums reached top spot on charts of country. In the year 2000, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, selected into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received his first Grammy award for his album Troubadour. Strait was named CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990 and 2013, and ACM Entertainer of the Year in both 1990 and 2014. Strait has been awarded more ACM and CMA awards than any other artist, and has received more nominations.
