Amy Adams

 

Amy Lou Adams (born August 20, 1974) is an American actress. Known for both her comedic and dramatic roles her name has been recognized three times in annual ranking of the top-paid actresses. She has received various accolades, including two Golden Globe Awards, in addition to nominations for six Academy Awards, seven British Academy Film Awards, and two Primetime Emmy Awards.Adams began her career as a dancer in a dinner theater, a career she pursued from 1994 to 1998, and made her debut in film as a support actress in the dark comedy Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999). Also, she made guest appearances on television and also played "mean girls" roles in low-budget feature films. Her first role of note came in Steven Spielberg's biopic Catch Me If You Can (2002), but she went unemployed for nearly an entire year after. Her breakout moment came when she portrayed an unassuming pregnant woman in the comedy-drama independent Junebug (2005), for which she won her first Academy Award nomination.
